Through a range of events and programmes, we provide your business with fresh perspectives and solutions to real-world challenges, in alignment with your growth needs.
Involving employers at every level of our learning, teaching, and careers support gives our students the best possible chance to succeed in their future aspirations, while also giving you direct access to passionate, driven, and diverse students and recent graduates. Partner organisations can benefit from a range of services provided by our Careers and Futures team:
Our range of services
Join our employer network
Our free online careers platform, Handshake, offers a fantastic opportunity for employer partners to engage directly with our university careers service, post jobs and events at no cost, and enhance your employer profile for increased visibility within the network.
We would love for you to join us on Handshake.
Placements and internships
Hosting a placement or internship offers you the opportunity to engage with student talent before they graduate. Our courses incorporate work-related activities, and many students take on year-long placements where they gain hands-on experience in roles directly aligned with their academic studies. In addition, our students are enthusiastic about short-term work experiences and internships. These can take place over the summer, part-time during term time, or even after graduation.
Real-world employer projects
We recognise the value of collaborative, experiential learning and actively embed project-based initiatives into the curriculum to help students develop essential employability skills, while offering our clients the opportunity to solve real business challenges through free consultancy, practical implementation, and the fresh perspectives. This approach enables students to work on real-world projects set by external clients, gaining hands-on experience and delivering innovative, impactful solutions.
Businesses and organisations can access fresh thinking and creative problem-solving at no cost. Projects can range from prototypes and MVPs to marketing strategies or viable tech solutions—ideal for organisations lacking in-house capacity or expertise. For more complex or longer-term needs, we can also support collaborative partnerships through government-funded schemes, connecting you with academic expertise to drive innovation and long-term value.
Supporting our region and local business community
In close partnership with the London Borough of Barnet, we support a range of local businesses, start-ups and charities. We’re committed to strengthening our local community by connecting your business, start-up or charity with talented student consultants, dedicated volunteers, skilled interns, and recent graduates.
Our innovative Barnet Business Growth programme offered 50 local businesses access to a fully-funded student intern, alongside a dedicated Continuous Personal Development (CPD) programme to support a community of businesses in the Borough of Barnet.
Collaborate with the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs
We’re proud to support the entrepreneurial ambitions of our students through our Start-Up Support Programme, a dynamic initiative designed to nurture innovative ideas and launch viable ventures. This programme is open to students, alumni, and local residents, and is delivered in partnership with Barnet Council.
We invite external organisations to get involved and help shape the future of entrepreneurship by:
- Judging start-up competitions and providing valuable feedback to emerging founders
- Delivering expert guest talks on topics such as business planning, funding, marketing, legal structures, or scaling a start-up
- Offering sponsorship to support events, awards, or seed funding
- Providing incubator or co-working space opportunities to help early-stage ventures grow
- Exploring bespoke collaborations, such as mentoring, innovation challenges, or co-developing new initiatives
Testimonials
Melanie Kalfaian, CEO & Founder of What A Host
We initially collaborated with Middlesex University on a consultancy project involving two groups of students who provided valuable insights across digital marketing: email marketing, social media, SEO, and paid advertising. Their recommendations were clearly presented with step-by-step implementation plans. We were so impressed that we ended up hiring one of the students to help optimise our email flows and campaigns.
This year, we also welcomed two interns; one focused on social media strategy, which was a huge support for me as a founder juggling many roles, and the other on SEO improvements. Her advanced knowledge in the field truly impressed me, and I learned a lot from working with her.
I highly encourage other brands to get involved in projects like this. It's incredibly valuable to gain a fresh perspective from the next generation of talent, especially when they’re so well-prepared and motivated.
Patrick O'Shea, Policy Adviser, Civil Service

The event was overall well organised and attended (by both students and employers alike) and there was a genuine positive buzz in the air from start to finish, with no expected (based on past events I have attended) lull in the afternoon.
The event offered us a great opportunity to make students aware of a number of Civil Service career opportunities, including work experience, apprenticeships and T-Levels, Fast Stream, as well as how to secure direct entry roles (including part-time operational opportunities which are usually hard for the Civil Service to fill).
Thanks again for including us in your successful event.
Suzi Clark, Director at Kit & Caboodle, proud MDX graduate and former Head of Press & PR

Our own experience of learning at Middlesex has made both Tanya and myself, as female founders of Kit & Caboodle (Creative Events Agency of the Year 2024), proud to support other MDX graduates, especially but not exclusively women, in gaining real-world experience at our London offices.
We’ve been fortunate to welcome several Middlesex students through internships and project collaborations, and we’re thrilled that two of them, Mercy Benn-Itua (BSc Information Technology & Business Intelligence, 2024) and Aishwarya Mane (MSc Marketing Management, 2023), have since progressed into permanent roles with us as Project Manager and Marketing Executive, respectively.
